Autologous Tissue – Breast Reconstruction Philadelphia

Published on January 16, 2015

Breast cancer treatment can often result in the need for a mastectomy. For many patients, one of the biggest steps on the road to recovery is breast reconstruction. Using autologous tissue (meaning one’s own tissue) is a proven and popular method for breast reconstruction.

Autologous tissue breast reconstruction is a technique where one’s own tissue is borrow from another area of the body and used to reconstruct the breast mound. There are a number of areas of the body that are used as donor sites, the common ones being the back and abdomen. The area most suitable for the patient’s goals is determined during the consultation.

To learn more about autologous tissue breast reconstruction, consult with Dr. Scott Brenman.
