Laser Hair Removal
Want to enjoy smoother, sleeker skin – without the hassle of shaving or the pain of waxing? Then it’s time to discover laser hair removal at The Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery in Philadelphia and Plymouth Meeting, PA. We use the elos Plus by Syneron Candela, which directly targets hair follicles for faster, pain-free hair removal. Over time, clients see smoother skin while being able to go for longer periods of time without shaving.
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal works by targeting the root of the hair follicle, which is where growth occurs. The follicle roots are killed by the intense burst of laser heat energy, thus causing them to fall out over the next week or so. The hair follicle does grow back, but it does so at a slower rate. Additionally, with repeated laser hair removal treatments, follicular re-growth slows down or stops, resulting in smoother skin for much longer, if not forever.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
You’re a good candidate for laser hair removal if you have excess hair that you’d like to remove on your legs, back, armpits, arms, mustache, and even the bikini area. The best candidates have darker hair follicles against light to medium skin tones, as laser hair removal technology can have a difficult time targeting dark hair against darker skin tones, or very light colored hair.
How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?
A typical treatment takes about 30 minutes to an hour to perform, depending on the size of the treatment area. A topical anesthetic creme is applied first to make the procedure more comfortable.
What Results Will I See?*
You should see your hair follicles begin to fall out within a week or two after your first laser hair removal treatment. Final results are usually visible with about 3 to 5 laser hair removal treatments.
Is There Any Downtime?
There is no downtime, but most patients do experience slight redness and minor swelling for the first few days after each session. It is important to wear sunscreen immediately after your treatment, as your skin will be sensitive to sunlight.
