Facelift Facts: 3 Things You Should Know Pre-Op

Dr. Brenman has performed many facelifts in his time, becoming recognized as one of the top plastic surgeons in the country. A facelift is a surgical procedure that looks to remove visible signs of aging in the face and neck. It’s a highly common procedure, but there are a few things worth knowing before you undergo the treatment. As such, here are three key facts to know before a rhytidectomy:

#1 Facelifts are Customized to Your Facial Anatomy

There’s no such thing as ‘one-size-fits-all’ with a facelift. Many different people may choose to have one, and each procedure can be slightly different. The treatment will be customized to suit your facial anatomy, ensuring you see the best results. All the incisions and repositioning of tissues are styled around the way you look. It allows for more natural results, as well as ones you will be most happy with.

#2 You Will Need Time Off For Facelift Recovery

Seeing as a facelift is a surgical procedure, a period of recovery is required following your treatment. On average, it takes between 4 to 6 weeks for someone to recover from a facelift. Fear not, this doesn’t mean you have to stay home during the entire recovery period. Typically, Dr. Brenman suggests that you take a week or two off work, while the remaining weeks are spent taking it easy. This means trying your best to relax and avoiding any intense activities that can aggravate your facelift. Dr. Brenman also provides a complete recovery plan for you to follow, which is customized to your needs. It’s crucial to follow this if you want to keep the recovery on track.

#3 Facelift Surgery is Long-Lasting

Many people are curious as to how long a facelift will last. Generally, Dr. Brenman’s facelifts will last up to 15 years – provided you recover properly and follow your recovery plan. This makes it one of the longer-lasting treatments in the plastic surgery world, and you won’t need any maintenance surgery during that time. Of course, the precise duration will vary from patient to patient, with a lot riding on how well you look after yourself.

For instance, Dr. Brenman always suggests that you look after your skin and protect it from the sun as it stops any scarring from becoming too visible. Maintaining a healthy and consistent weight is also highly recommended to see long-lasting results. It’s not uncommon for patients who put on weight a few years after surgery undo some of the work that went on during the procedure!

Am I a Candidate for a Facelift?

Do you have moderate to severe sagging around your face and neck? Is there excessive fatty tissue around your jawline? If so, you could be a perfect candidate for a facelift – provided you are healthy. It’s also a good treatment for people who have tried non-surgical alternatives, yet seen no improvements. Dr. Brenman doesn’t recommend this surgery for smokers, so this is a habit you will need to quit beforehand.

“After losing 87 pounds I decided I would treat myself and get a tummy tuck that I have been wanting for some time. I researched and thought Dr Scot Brenman would be best. Well suffice it to say I am not thrilled with my results. Ultimately my tummy is flatter which was what I wanted but my belly button is 2 inches above the incision line which I hate! He promised lipo which til this day I’m betting he didn’t do! Also his aftercare was thee WORSE! He never followed up with me after the removal of my drains! No way will he receive another one of my hard earned dimes!” *
