How Long Does Botox® Last?

Slowing down the telltale signs of aging is something that a lot of individuals are looking to do. If you are suffering from frown lines or facial wrinkles, there are solutions that can address both of these issues. Primarily, injectable treatments are the most effective, including Botox®. This has proven to be a popular treatment over the years, delivering long-lasting results.

Botox® Overview Botox® is the brand name for a product containing botulinum toxin type A. This is a neurotoxin that interacts with nerve endings, suppressing them to create a smooth and youthful appearance. The nerve activity is responsible for facilitating muscle engagement.  More specifically, Botox® stops certain muscles from engaging in repetitive movements. For example, frowning, squinting, and other dynamic wrinkles are formed this way. Botox® specifically targets dynamic wrinkles and works to smooth them.

How Does Botox® Prevent Wrinkles?

By preventing your muscles from contracting and forming these movements, Botox® helps to keep your skin smoother and softer. The skin on your face will stop moving in the injected areas, meaning it can’t wrinkle up or create fold lines.  This is different from how other anti-aging injectable treatments work – such as dermal fillers. Dermal fillers involve a hyaluronic solution that stays in place before being absorbed by the body over time. Overall, Botox® is highly effective at providing amazing anti-aging benefits!

How Long Do My Botox® Results Last?

Most patients start seeing the results of Botox® within 24-48 hours after their first session. Full results can be seen after 30 days, and they are shown to last for up to 4 months. People with moderate-to-severe frown lines can see the results for this long, though it’s important to understand that results do vary from patient to patient. It depends on each individual and how severe their wrinkles are. On average, 3-4 months is how long Botox® results last before a new appointment is needed.

Benefits and Applications for Botox®

Botox® is unable to completely stop the aging process, but it can help you look a lot younger. It will reduce the telltale signs of aging by making your skin look softer, smoother, and far more youthful. It is also a relatively painless treatment, with just a slight prick felt during application. No surgery is needed at all, giving you great results without any scarring and minimal downtime.  Botox® is primarily used on the face to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Commonly, it is injected to smooth out frown lines and crow’s feet. However, it can also have more medical applications, being used to treat conditions such as hyperhidrosis and eyelid spasms.

Am I a Candidate for Botox®?

It’s no surprise that Botox® has been such a popular treatment for many years. As an FDA-approved anti-aging method, it is safe for most adults to try. If you suffer from facial wrinkles, specifically forehead lines or crow’s feet, you could be a brilliant candidate for Botox® injections.  Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease will not be suitable candidates. Dr. Brenman will discuss your eligibility at your consultation, giving you peace of mind as you move ahead.  “After losing 87 pounds I decided I would treat myself and get a tummy tuck that I have been wanting for some time. I researched and thought Dr Scot Brenman would be best. Well suffice it to say I am not thrilled with my results. Ultimately my tummy is flatter which was what I wanted but my belly button is 2 inches above the incision line which I hate! He promised lipo which til this day I’m betting he didn’t do! Also his aftercare was thee WORSE! He never followed up with me after the removal of my drains! No way will he receive another one of my hard earned dimes!” *
This visit was a pleasure! Dr. Brenman thoroughly explained my options and did seem rushed. He answered all my questions and made me comfortable with making my decision. Gina was friendly and helpful in facilitating scheduling etc. I feel confident in my choice.
