How Long is Recovery from a Neck Lift?

About Neck Lifts

Fine lines and wrinkles aren’t the only signs of aging on your face, sadly, your neck can give you away too. As you age, the skin on your neck begins to lose its elasticity, and this, combined with the movement of your facial fat pads, can lead to a sagging neckline and jowls that obscure your jawline. A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can help to correct these signs of aging by tightening the skin of the neck and restoring your natural, youthful appearance.

Here at The Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery, our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Scott A. Brenman, specializes in the minimal incision neck lift, which has shorter recovery times and can help to reduce post-operative scarring.

Neck Lift Recovery

A minimal incision neck lift is designed to reduce fat in the neck and to remove sagging skin while minimizing post-operative scarring. Generally, most patients that receive a minimal incision neck lift can return to work a week after their procedure and can begin exercising normally again after four to six weeks.

To help you recover as quickly as possible, Dr. Brenman will guide you through the recovery process and will tailor his recommendations to suit your lifestyle. During the first week of your recovery, you will likely wear a bandage around your face and neck to help reduce swelling, and a thin drainage tube may be inserted to allow excess fluid to drain away. You will also be provided with painkillers and antibiotics to keep you comfortable and reduce the chance of infection.

Neck Lift Benefits

A neck lift can provide a person with a number of benefits, including;

Making them look younger

The neck is one of the first places that many people begin to show signs of aging. A neck lift can help to remove these signs and to restore a more youthful appearance.

Slimming their face

As you age, your face’s fat tends to migrate down, ultimately collecting in your neck and jawline. Removing this fat during a neck lift can help to slim your face, making you look younger and slimmer.

Restoring their jawline

A neck lift can help to remove excess fat and skin that has collected on the jaw forming unsightly jowls, restoring your jawline, and giving your face more structure and definition.

Giving them more confidence

Many people feel self-conscious about their sagging necks or growing jowls, which can have a significant impact on their careers and personal lives. A neck lift can help to restore a persons’ self-confidence, allowing them to be the person that they want to be.

Am I a Candidate for a Neck Lift?

If you are unhappy with your neck or jawline and have moderate to severe sagging, then you could be an ideal candidate for a neck lift at The Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery. Ideally, candidates should be healthy non-smokers, and it is also essential that you have realistic expectations about the outcomes of your procedure.

“After losing 87 pounds I decided I would treat myself and get a tummy tuck that I have been wanting for some time. I researched and thought Dr Scot Brenman would be best. Well suffice it to say I am not thrilled with my results. Ultimately my tummy is flatter which was what I wanted but my belly button is 2 inches above the incision line which I hate! He promised lipo which til this day I’m betting he didn’t do! Also his aftercare was thee WORSE! He never followed up with me after the removal of my drains! No way will he receive another one of my hard earned dimes!” *
